RETRIEVAL OF AEROSOL OPTICAL PROPERTIES OVER PO VALLEY
These results are a part of project where aerosol optical properties are
retrieved automatically, in near real time over Po Valley area. At the moment the retrievals
are done manually as there are still some issues in the automating measurement data
download. The development work will continue in future.
Two examples of the AOD at 555 nm wavelength retrieved over Po Valley are presented below.
DESCRIPTION AND FORMAT OF THE RESULTS
Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) is retrieved for the area of 44N - 47N, 8E - 14E. Results include AOD at three wavelengths (555 nm, 659 nm and 1600 nm). The nominal resolution of the AOD maps is 1x1 km2 (pixel size). Pixels which are retrieved as a cloud are discarded.
The result files are in the Hierarchical Data Format (HDF), version 5. The datasets include the AODs for 555 nm, 659 nm and 1600 nm, as well as the latitude and longitude for each retrieved pixel. There is also a dataset for aerosol mixture, but this feature is unsupported at the moment.
